About Counterpoint Media

In 2005, Mark Hofschneider launched Counterpoint Media, relocating from New York City to the Adirondacks with a novel idea—to build a global network of talented designers, strategists, project managers, and programmers while residing in the mountains. Since the beginning, technologies have changed but Counterpoint’s mission has remained simple—Clean Design + Smart Strategy + Solid Implementation at a reasonable cost.

We work with clients of all sizes. But we’re proudest of the work we’ve done with organizations that make a difference in the world.
Often, we partner with clients in the non-profit, science, and education realms, including the Lasker Foundation, Foundation for the National Institutes of Health, North Country School, the Adirondack Land Trust, and others.

About Our Approach

We begin the process by listening and learning who you are and what you want to achieve.

PLAN: We kick-off with an in-depth discussion about the direction of your project. Deliverables for this phase include a series of documents that act as blueprints for the design and build phases of the project. The Plan phase is sometimes overlooked, but is often the most important phase in delivering a product that meets the needs and expectations of the client.

Site Audit

DESIGN: Once the blueprints are complete, we’ll have enough information to move into the design phase. Here, we may create your logo, define your color palette, and font treatment, as well as a page template and content design standards for the site, while ensuring a polished user experience on all defined platforms.

Brand Audit
Mood Boards
Logo Design

Copy Development

BUILD: Once all assets are created, accounted for and approved, the project goes into the Build phase. During this stage, we configure the server and install the CMS and any necessary plugins. A theme template will be selected and customized to reflect the design markups. Content is then migrated into the system, and cus- tomized and 3rd party functionality is built. The site is then ready for proofreading and quality assurance testing on all platforms defined in the technical document.

Review Process: Once completed the site will be presented to the client for the review process. Two rounds of revisions will occur before the final sign-off and publishing process.

MAINTAIN: Ongoing maintenance is not required, but we do recommend it. Maintenance includes content updates, minor changes to the site architecture, monitoring the site backing process, content manage- ment system (CMS) updates, theme and plugin updates, assisting in answering update questions, and helping resolve server administration issues.
